So Blessed

This week has been a little stressful what with all the Halloween things for my class on Monday, doing report cards, parent teacher conferences, and a plethora of other things. One amazing experience I was able to have was to attend a baptism. It just made me really think about the fact that I am so blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This gospel brings so many blessings and experiences into my life that I am so grateful for. I am so blessed to know that my Heavenly Father and Savior love me and want me to find joy in this life and return to live with them. I am also so blessed with many friends that I have the opportunity to do things with. Friends that help me in so many ways and help me to become a better person. I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Outpouring Of Love

I had a post planned for today, but that will have to wait until next week. I just am so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love that everyone showed me this weekend for my birthday. I have felt so special and loved. So, this will be short and sweet, but I'm so blessed to have so many friends and family in my life! I don't know where I would be without all of you! Thanks for making my life better.

Up, Up, and AWAY!!!

I have been racking my brain for the last several weeks to think of how to post my unadventurous weeks and my many, many thoughts and feelings. However...no matter how hard I tried I couldn't come up with anything. However today I had an adventure and finally have something to share. This morning at 6AM a bunch of us met up and walked to where they were launching several hot air balloons. I had always heard about it, but never had been. Too bad I hadn't gone...it was amazing! As I am not all that eloquent with expressing my thoughts and feelings, I will just let you share in my experience with these photos.

Yeah for happiness!

Back at it!

Well, this week was that first week back at normal life from the holidays. I found that I truly missed some of those things that I wasn't able to do during the break. It just makes me think of "you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone." This week was just full of getting use to being back and all of the activities and events that are included in that. An event I didn't plan on however happened Tuesday morning. I looked out the window and saw the vast amounts of fluffy snow accumulated on the ground. It was lightly snowing and it looked nice. I walked down to my car and proceeded to scrape off the many inches of snow that were covering my car. It was so light and fluffy that I didn't take a second thought about the snow as I got in my car and put it into reverse. This is where the problem began...I wasn't going anywhere! I couldn't pull forward because there was a car in front of me, so I did the only thing that I could think of...push in the clutch, put it in neutral and get out and push the car out of the snow that was covering the tires. After a while of pushing I saw another brave soul out in the early morning in my parking lot, and asked her if she could help me push out my car the rest of the way. Thankfully we pushed it out and I was on my way. Luckily the week ended a little less dramatic by going out to dinner with some friends...and so continues being back at it in the simple journey of life.

Friends

On Friday I had a surprise visit after school from a good friend that I haven't seen in a while. This just made me think...what would I do without all of my great friends? However, I quickly stopped thinking about that because it just wasn't a happy thought! So to all of my friends out there...thank you!!! I don't know what I would do without you!

Against A Crooked Sky

Friday night I was the only one home and was working on some school stuff when I turned on the TV and saw the movie "Against A Crooked Sky" just starting. This was an old film done in 1975, but I grew up watching this movie. I have been thinking about this movie since that night. It has been a while since I had seen it, and it really has a great message. For those of you that don't know the movie..you should see it...but anyway, a boy goes to look for his sister who has been kidnapped. When he finds her she is framed for murder and the punishment is to be killed. The brother asks if he can do anything, and they tell him that he must race "Against The Crooked Sky," and if he makes it he will take her place and be killed. No one has ever done this, but he tries. I won't tell you the ending, because there is a twist, but it really made me think about that love that you have for people when you would be willing to give your life for them. It then made me think of all the times when someone has "saved my life" with the small things that they have done for me. My Savior has also "saved my life" in more ways than one. What a blessing to not be alone, to be able to learn how to love, and to feel love.

Pencil Erasers

The kids in my class have recently been asking me for new pencil erasers all the time. I must confess that at times it drives me crazy how many times they need a new eraser. I keep wondering what they are doing with them and how they can use them so fast. Maybe they are eating them? I wouldn't put it past some of them! Well, I pulled out some new packages of erasers the other day, and today found myself giving out many of them. Tonight I came across this quote and it really made me stop to think about how much we really need to use an eraser in our lives.

"No one is perfect..that’s why pencils have erasers."

The author in unknown, and I remember hearing it before when I was in school. It made me reflect on all of the things in my life that I have done that aren't perfect, yet have taught me so many things and helped me to become a better person. I'm so grateful that we don't have to be perfect today, and that we can use that eraser to help us in building a better life for ourselves.

Thomas J. Watson said that, "The way to succeed is to double your error rate." My kids must really be succeeding because they are definitely doubling their error rate! In all seriousness, I have found myself getting down on myself sometimes because I want to be the perfectionist that is in me and it doesn't work that way. Being a little better every day and trying my best is what I ask of my kids, and what I should ask of myself, not to be perfect right this second. How blessed I am to be learning so many things in my quest for success!
And thankfully.....
